Question by noogy: What would you consider the usefulness of poetry and artistic imagery to be, if any?

Do you think that art and poetry are of any real value, or are they only entertainment? Is there any spiritual/mental benefit to either creating or enjoying them? Is there a physical benefit? Are they detrimental in any way? Can we make distinctions within art forms using elements such as tone, mood, and metrical formulation?

of course, i think art and poetry are valuable and is a necessity in a man's life because it allows us to easily express what we think and how we feel, maybe just like music. notice how sometimes it's so hard for us to verbally express ourselves, but once we put it into writing like in the form of poetry or art, our ideas just keep on flowing?

it stimulates our minds and encourages creative thinking because there are a lot of possible meanings and interpretations from the symbolism in the poem. i think this could be one of it's mental benefits.
