Question by lovely at 29: What qualifications, if any, do i need to become a childcare cook in western australia?

I used to work in a child care centre about 10 years ago when i was 17 as an untrained carer. I was occasionally asked to be the relief cook and would love to become a childcare care cook part time or full time.

Answer by m
I recently completed a Certificate 111 in Children's Services, which will be the minimum standard required to work as a Carer. The Cook where I did placements was not trained, but had a Working with Children Check and had done a Basic Food Handlers Course and occassionally filled in as a Carer when someone was sick. However, her hours were only 9-3 so may not suit everyone.
